The Ford Taurus is a safe, reliable vehicle, but you'll need to complete regular maintenance in order to keep it that way. Follow these guidelines to do it right.

 Every 5,000 miles:

Every 5,000 miles, it is a good idea to bring your Taurus in for a tune-up. This should include:

  • Checking for recalls

  • Changing oil and replacing the filter

  • Adjusting tire pressure and rotating if needed

  • Checking all lights

  • Inspecting brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, lines and hoses

  • Testing parking brake

  • Topping off low fluids

  • Inspecting engine cooling system components

  • Inspecting steering system components

All 15,000 mile service items, plus:

Every 15,000 miles, have your mechanic repeat the 5,000-mile service, as well as the following tasks:

  • Inspect drive axle boots

  • Check transfer case and differential

  • Inspect exhaust system and heat shields

  • Inspect windshield wipers, replacing blades if necessary

  • Replace air filters in cabin and engine

All 30,000 service items, plus:

The 30,000-mile service should include all of the tasks from the previous two categories. Your technician should also inspect the fuel lines, ignition wires, distributor cap, and transmission. Replace the fuel filter at this time as well. Finally, if your Taurus model has heated seats, you should replace the seat cushion filters if needed.
Each Ford vehicle requires custom service and maintenance based on model, trim, engine and service duty. The above checklist is a standard recommended list and other services may be performed. Contact our service department to find out what maintenance services will be required on your specific vehicle.
