There are many reasons why the F-150 is one of the most popular trucks in the country, but you'll need to care for yours properly to keep it in great shape.

 Every 5,000 miles:

At 5,000-mile intervals, you'll need to change your oil and filter, so this is the perfect opportunity to check a variety of other components as well. It is always a good idea to check for recalls at each service to alert you to any potential issues. Your mechanic should also perform the following maintenance tasks:

  • Check all light bulbs, replacing as needed

  • Adjust tire pressure and rotate if needed

  • Check all fluid levels and top off any that are low

  • Inspect brake system components, including pads, drums, and rotors

  • Check parking brake system

  • Inspect engine cooling system

  • Test power steering

  • Tune suspension

All 15,000 mile service items, plus:

In addition to all of the tasks from the 5,000-mile service, the 15,000-mile appointment should also include inspections of the following:

  • Drive axle boots

  • Transfer case

  • Differential

  • Exhaust system

  • Heat shields

  • Air filters in engine and cabin, replacing as needed

Test your wiper blades at this point as well; they may be due for replacement.

 All 30,000 service items, plus:

On top of all of the previous tasks, this service should also include inspecting the fuel lines, ignition system, and transmission. You'll likely need to replace your fuel filter at this point too. Finally, if your F-150 is equipped with heated seats, change the seat cushion filters also.

Each Ford vehicle requires custom service and maintenance based on model, trim, engine and service duty. The above checklist is a standard recommended list and other services may be performed.
